ARTIST BIO

Jochen Cerny, born in Düsseldorf, Germany, inherited his artistic skills from both his grandmother, a passionate photographer, and his father, a marketing consultant with top photographers from industry. His first foray into photography started just after his academic studies, but he then opted for a career as an investment banker, taking him to NY, London & Frankfurt. Jochen rediscovered his photography passion after a reunion with a childhood friend, none other than Andreas Gursky, one of the world's most famous fine art photographers. At that seminal meeting, Andreas confirmed Jochen's talent and that was the catalyst behind him setting on a path turning his photography into a profession.

Today, Jochen's style is characterised by his self-developed and perfected CMPB-technique, involving post--production adaptations, manipulating the colours of the object without alienating the object itself. The result is a unique art form in photography with his own idiosyncratic style, partially influenced by the Düsseldorf School of Photography. Over the last few years, Jochen's work has gained traction with multiple awards in high-profile photography competitions, such as Trierenberg Circuit, Monochrome Awards, Fotoforum Magazine and others. He has held multiple exhibitions internationally through galleries in Hong Kong, London and Germany, with his work being received to positive acclaim by collectors and photo enthusiasts alike. In March 2020, he was nominated as a curator in the "Asian Art Association" in Singapore. Since then, his work has featured in numerous international exhibitions : Gallery 040, Hamburg; Maison Sensey, Paris; Robert Berry Gallery, New York and Artcadia Gallery, Berlin.
