ARTIST BIO
With a degree in textile design Sandy Powell’s paintings are informed by her deep passion for colour. Through her art, she always seeks to combine her love and appreciation of being in nature with the complexities of life itself. Working with layers of acrylic paint, each one a representation of another stage interweaving with each other not disregarding the importance of the initial layers. As she works to push and pull the paint, it’s the glimpses of the early mark making that can reveal the unexpected and help to produce the intrinsic depth that she is looking for in her work.
Sandy's paintings serve as a bridge between the abstract and the reality, navigating the delicate balance between the chaos and the calm, darkness and light.
With an intuitive approach and expressive brushwork she layers acrylics to construct a visual language that evolves with vibrant palettes and dynamic compositions, culminating in a harmonious blend of balance and authenticity.
