This scene is of Westminster Bridge, looking out at Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster. Painted in Holdsworth’s signature blue tones, ‘Destination London’ is a dynamic piece, reflecting the motions of the city. The red buses driving away in the distance seem to move quickly and with purpose. The clustered crowds crossing the bridge are silhouettes; they appear to be walking along in groups. While the cityscape can be recognised as London, the people on the bridge are anonymous. Holdsworth captures the pace of life in crowded spaces, and the way in which one often blends into a larger crowd.

“It’s the mixture of calm beauty and ambiguity throughout all of Jo Holdsworth’s paintings that mesmerises the viewer." London art critic Tabish Khan

“Her work evokes, with uncanny semblance, the comings and goings of everyday life. With seemingly effortless brush strokes and a limited colour palette, she crafts an artistic window into quintessentially British scenes".   Arts & Collections
