Kate Kelleher began her career as a homeware buyer for Heal's. There she developed her keen eye for what works well in contemporary stylish interiors. This greatly influences her style in her ceramic art, especially the interplay between form, colour and texture.
Each element of Kate’s ceramic artworks is carefully considered and meticulously hand crafted. Every block of clay is a story waiting to be told, whether through organic shapes taken from nature, overlapping layers, sculptural forms, or colour - they all contribute to an introspective narrative. Sculptural form and texture are vital in Kate's work as she is fascinated by how surfaces, either smooth or polished, can evoke emotion and memory by the viewer.
Working in stoneware clay, Kate makes her own glazes thereby ensuring each of her pieces is truly unique. They are layered many times to achieve a visual complexity. Exquisite ceramics which adorn any home with sophistication.
