About: this artwork: Claire's abstract landscapes, inspired by her local Norfolk countryside, are uplifting and soulful paintings brightening walls and homes with their vibrancy of colour and flowing movement. Of this work, Claire shares : “I was reminded the other day of the studio/wooden house in Walberswick in which our family used to stay when we children, usually around the Whitsun half term. There would often be very high tides that rushed under the studio (itself perched on long wooden stilts), and we would open the trapdoor in the floor and watch the sea swirling around underneath. The days were full of light and ozone and messing around in the water.”

ARTIST BIO

Claire Oxley based in East Anglia studied at the Norwich School of Art and the universities of Oxford and Lancaster. Her abstract landscapes, inspired by her local Norfolk countryside, are distinctive through their colour intensity and rhythmic mark making.

The rhythmic movement in her paintings is a reflection of Claire’s fascination by the interplay between music and art. Not only as she enjoys them both, but also as she has synesthesia, a condition where the brain links a person’s senses together in a rare manner, prompting unusual sensory responses to stimuli.  Her paintings are heard as much as seen, and her colour combinations stimulate and bring energy to any interior space or wall.

Claire regularly exhibits across the UK and has an international collector base. She often works to commission often with interior designers.
